Shades of blue in Meinerswijk

As the hidden sunset approached the white and the grey of Meinerswijk turn to shades of blue. Magic of a different colour.

At the bird observatory

I have been trying to make my way to the bird observatory in Meinerswijk for some time now but so far without any luck. Pity really as the trees surrounding it were filled with cormorants that kept flying overhead.

Shades of grey in Meinerswijk

Temptation got the better of me and despite the freezing cold I couldn't resist cycling to Meinerswijk, the largest nature reserve within city limits in the world, where scenes of winter unfolded.

More scenes...

The land between the rivers and the dikes are known as "uiterwaarden". Copious rains of the past weeks have meant the water level in the Rhine has risen and these uiterwaarden have flooded. A perfect place to go skating!

Scenes from Winter Wonderland

Thick, dense fog, freezing cold and the tiniest of snow crystals created scenes of winter magic during the night. After weeks of being cooped up inside, freedom began at the start of the holidays. In love with the world again.

Unexpected little gem

Walstreet, Arnhem. Not a street I venture into very often but I did last week when I was shopping. While I was passing one of the restored town houses I noticed the tiles on this building. I love the tiles with the little acorn motif!

Going for Gold

What came first?

The bird or the egg? What I loved abot this entry was the synchronicity of the poses and how just a few simple props added to the performance.
